Ink Sanctuary doors are open:
Monday -Thursday 10:00 am-10:00 pm,
Friday-Saturday 10:00 am-11:00 pm
Sundays 12:00 pm-6:00 pm.
Where is the studio located?
Ink Sanctuary is located at 3 Grant Avenue Islip, NY 11751. If you are local, head west on Main Street toward S Bay Avenue, then turn Right onto Grant Avenue. We are next to Bubba’s Burrito Bar and Tellers Restaurant: An American Chophouse.
What Additional Services are offered?
In addition to the initial tattoo work, we offer Cover Up, Removal and Cosmetic services. For these additional services we do require you come into the studio for a consultation to discuss your options. This is for your benefit to ensure you get results you are happy with.
Do you take walk-ins?
We can take walk-ins if we have the availability to do so at the time you come into the studio. We always recommend that you call us ahead at 631-581-5233, to check availability. However, if your tattoo is custom then a consultation will be required to discuss the artwork, talk ideas and pay your deposit.
Why do I have to put down a deposit?
Our NY Tattoo artists take time to draw up the design for your tattoo. Sometimes sketches can take hours to draw up and perfect. The deposit ensures that the artist is compensated for their time put into your artwork. If you decide to cancel your appointment for any reason and are not rescheduling, then your deposit compensates the artist for their time put into sketching your design. Your deposit will always be applied to the total fee for your artwork.
If you can’t make your appointment, please call us. We can move the date so that you don’t lose your deposit, if you still want the tattoo completed
Can I bring my children?
You may bring your children into our lobby area but they must have adult supervision at all times and will not be permitted into the tattoo room for their safety and to prevent distraction.
How do I prepare for my tattoo?
Be timely. In fact, try to get into the studio early. Get plenty of water and rest prior to the day of your tattoo. Avoid coming in hung over, hungry or exhausted. You may want to have a Gatorade and/or candy bar with you in case your sugar levels drop. Wear comfy clothing that you won’t mind ink getting on and make sure the area you are getting tattooed is open. Distraction will help take your focus off of the discomfort, so bring in your iPod, iPad, tablet and headphones. Watching your favorite movie, listening to an e-book or even your favorite tunes will help take any anxiety and fear out of the equation. Keep distractions at bay. That means leaving your friends either at home or in the lobby. Remember to bring your photo ID and method of payment.
Ink Sanctuary has professional ink experts that will provide you with a lasting impression and quality artwork whether this is your first tattoo or you are adding to your collection.
What are the age restrictions?
The state of New York requires that you are at least 18 years of age as well as provide a valid government issued photo ID before you can get a tattoo. Any form of government ID that shows proof of your identity and birth date such as driver’s license, military ID or passport will be sufficient. This is the State law and we will not make any exceptions! However, we can begin planning and even schedule your appointment but the date must be after you’ve turned 18. With a deposit, we can begin the drawing and sizing of your desired tattoo so that you have it sketched and ready when the time arrives.
How does pricing work?
Our Long Island Tattoo artists charge an hourly rate for their craft and time. Each artist is unique in their craft and will price out the tattoo according to the hourly rate as well as whether there will be additional changes to your initial tattoo. For example, if you have a design drawn and decide to add or change something once you come into the studio, or maybe want to add coloring then this will change the pricing. You will have an initial consult with your artist to discuss all variables prior to the work being completed. Smaller tattoos may be priced at a flat fee and can usually be completed in a single session. A larger tattoo will be higher priced because it will take multiple sessions to complete and the hourly price will usually be the standard form of pricing.
Each tattoo is custom and each artist has their unique artistry elements they bring to the work. All options and pricing can be discussed ahead of time so that you and your artist have mutual understanding of the fees and process.
Will it hurt?
Simple answer is, yes. But, everyone has a different level of pain tolerance and the location of your tattoo greatly affects the amount of discomfort you will feel. Keep in mind that no two people are created equal. Your friend may have experienced a ton of pain in an area but you may be able to tolerate getting inked in that same area more easily. It isn’t going to be something you can’t handle. Tattoos have been around for a very long time and if it was intolerable, no one would be doing it. You Got this!
Is getting a tattoo safe?
Ink Sanctuary maintains a sterile and clean studio environment for you and our artists. We must comply with all state and county health guidelines. Each client receives a new and sterile needle that is disposed of after use to avoid any possible cross-contamination. Anything that our artists touch will be utilized using proper safety and handling precautions. Every item that is not disposable is properly sterilized through a hospital grade system. All of our artists are certified and hold current licenses to perform their work. We are happy to put your mind at ease and show you your needles and tubes prior to beginning your tattoo. Just ask!
How long will it take?
A smaller tattoo can typically be completed in a few hours or less. A larger tattoo like a full sleeve, back or chest, will take multiple visits to the studio. You will always begin with a free consultation with your artist, at which time you will discuss size, theme, coloring, and bring any images you are drawing your inspiration from. Next, you will make your deposit and the artist will begin sketching your idea. Once finished with the design sketch, which will reflect the size of your desired tattoo, you will be contacted for approval of the drawing. Once approval is given, your appointment will be scheduled to begin your artwork. Larger tattoos are broken into phases for a more tolerable experience.
